Well I knew that the NT5 release date was going to sneak into 1st half of 2000. Looks like that prediction is becoming more evident.
No one's rushing new NT version

Network managers and industry watchers are taking a cautious approach when it comes to upgrading to Windows NT 5.0. Although the next version of Microsoft Corp.'s juggernaut operating system may not be available until 2000, observers say they can wait longer before implementing the product.
Putting off the upgrade is a wise move, according to Michael Gartenberg, research director with Stamford, Conn.-based consultants Gartner Group Inc.
He cites the delay in releasing the second beta-test version of NT as an indication of further setbacks in the future.
The second trial phase of NT 5.0 was to have begun in the first half of 1998, Gartenberg says. Microsoft, however, held off until Aug. 18 to start sending the NT Workstation 5.0, NT Server 5.0 and NT Server 5.0 Enterprise Edition to more than 250,000 testers.
"We do not believe that NT 5.0 is going to ship in calendar year 1999," he claims. "We think it's probably going to be delayed until at least the first half of the Year 2000."
More importantly, he adds, the current release won't be a complete product.
"It will generally be feature-complete, mostly feature-complete, kind of feature-complete, but if you pin them down on it you start discovering there's a lot of code that's unfinished. Or at least (it's) so rough that they're saying don't even bother testing it because it's not going to work."

Not good when Gartner Group starts talking about MSFT like this.
