Disparity in US vs. Japan Silver Futures Prices:

I recently started looking into silver futures as a way to play the possible appreciation of silver over the next few years. Since I
live in Japan, I have started to look at prices & charts in yen terms. I found that the futures prices in the US & Japan appear to differ:

US$ (1000 ounces)
Sept. 98 4950
Aug. 99 5513

Japanese yen (0.1 yen/10 grams)
Sept. 98 218
Aug. 99 208.4

So while in the US there is a premium for the longer term futures,
the Japanese market is offering a discount. This may be a silly
question, but why the disparity?

Yen prices are available at www.tocom.or.jp/souba/souba_j.html

I also noticed that in yen terms the long term silver chart looks
rather bullish:

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,
