Fore does Hollywood........................... tvbroadcast.com Montage runs on a pentium 200 NT platform using 48 megabytes of RAM. It can send 30 frames per second of 640 by 480 motion JPEG or MPEG-1 video (and 48K of uncompressed, stereo digital audio). A Fore Systems ASX100 ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) switch transmits data in packets (insuring the integrity of the data) on a cost effective T-1 line (a T-3 line was also dropped into the studio). OC-3 fiber optic cables connect the studio to a 45 Mbps microwave line of sight link with the actual carrier, Metawire, a datalink provider located in nearby Hollywood Center. "I've had 4-way (teleconferencing) at full resolution on-line while using the computer for other things and there's been no problem," Marcus reported. "It really looks great!"
