Contrarian (Fleckenstein) perspective

Semiconductors hit... The only noteworthy thing today from my perspective was that a bunch of the semiconductor stocks that have held up in the past, were hit hard. I'm talking about the analog companies that I mentioned in Barron's: Maxim (MXIM) and Linear Technology (LLTC).

Micron speculation continues... On the humorous side, Micron Technology (MU) made the comment at the Montgomery conference that DRAM prices went up on Monday, and with that the stock was up about $2 most of the day. When you look at Micron from a market cap-to-revenue basis, it is one of the more expensive companies. Add the fact it has been losing money and in all likelihood will continue to lose money, and you have further proof speculation is alive and well.

People are talking about deflation in the world, and we want to bet on the only commodity that has truly collapsed in price throughout its history: semiconductor parts, especially memory. Yet, investors are hoping it goes up.

People still refuse to connect the dots, ensuring that they will keep getting separated from their money.
