<<It's one thing to have an affair 30 years ago as Hyde did.

It's another thing totally to do it one floor down from where your wife is sleeping
then to walk into a deposition, swear an oath to tell the truth (this wholly aside from
the oath of office he took to uphold the law of the land) and to tell a bald faced lie
about it. I don't recall any allegation that Henry Hyde did that. Do you???>>

Unlike the president, no none has attempted to criminalize Henry Hyde's private life yet. And what does time have to do with it? If you committed the act, does the passage of time counteract it? Is John Wilkes Booth any less guilty of murder than say Mark David Chapman? Does Mr. Clinton's engaging in sexual activity in the office somehow more reprehensible than Mr. Hyde's spending his family's money on paying for his mistress's apartment so he do her somewhere where he won't be seen?

<<Then, when it becomes an issue, Clinton sics his PR machine on it, raises numerous
frivolous defenses such as executive privilege (thus weakening the privilege for
future presidents) and only when he is caught red handed and backed into a corner
does he come clean.>>

Oh, you would have spilled the beans right off the bat would you?

<<I'd say this a slight bit different from Henry Hyde having an affair 30 years ago with
a woman who had separated from her husband. Don't forget, Hyde's wife was told
about the affair and they lived together until she died several years ago.>>

I agree this is different. Hyde's action are more premeditated and drove a family to split apart. I haven't heard ole Hank say he was sorry yet. Have you?

<<This is not about sex. It's about lying, witness tampering and obstruction of justice.
Vastly different from having an affair some 30 years ago, IMHO.>>

No this isn't about sex and it isn't about justice. THIS IS ABOUT POLITICS! This is about the Republican party throwing all restraint and decency to the wind to find away to destroy a strong and popular leader in order to promote their agenda. Little does it matter to the Republicans that they have forever ruined the way politics will be conducted in this country.

<<ps - as far as I'm concerned, Clinton may as well serve out his term. He's ensured
that his legacy is well established. Wow! To be known as the first president to
testify before a grand jury as its target. I just feel sorry for Chelsea. She didn't ask
for this. Hillary, in her own way, did.>>

Yeah, I bet you feel a whole lot of concern for the first family. The Republicans will reap what they have sown. You have heard about Hyde, Burton, and Chenoweth. I assure you that this is just the beginning and I have absolutely no sympathy for any of the other Republican hypocrites that will have their private lives thrown out in the street for public consumption. They have brought on themselves. So now it's time for the chickens to come home to roost, and I will laugh my ass off as it happens.
