Today in the business section of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Front Page, there was an article Titled "Biotech firm alleges 'illegal' short-selling of stock. The firm is Hemispherx BioPharma, they are currently testing a drug to treat chronic fatigue syndrome. Business week published, in their inside wall street column, a quote from Asensio stating that the drug hemispherx is testing, Ampligen, is "a highly toxic, obsolete drug that is ineffective in the treatment of any disease." he also went on to say 'This is both a scientfic fraud and a Fraudulent stock promotion." After the article was printed the stock closed down $1.50 to $8.38. The stock recently traded at 12.50 on 9/9. Hamispherx said they have been selected for the illegal manipulations solely due to its outstanding quantitative performance over the last several months. In April it traded at $2.75. Asked What his evidence was of scientific Fraud, Asensio replied: "the representations by management made in their SEC filings and press release are unsubstantiated by the information available on the safety and efficacy of the drug." The company has filed a complaint with the SEC, who are investigating the matter. This is exactly what he did to Biotime. Asensio should be thrown in jail.
