This is a question I asked a while ago, but it was never explained. How does a person cover stock for someone else? If I am short 100 shares of xyz, how does someone else cover for me?? Wouldn't there have to be some sort of transaction somewhere?? It would seem to me that there has to be a buy in, then a reshort. How do you transfer accounts without some sort of reporting??? I just don't understand this transaction at all. TIA.. please keep it simple , that's why I used 100 shares.
