How does finding examples of what may or may not be a misstatement or overstatement in any way mitigate a reasonable and rational concern for taking prudent precautions to lessen the potential impact of y2k glitches?

The flippness of the one comment concerns me..... "What if there is no electricity for five days?" *Sit in the Dark*

Five days without electricity in the snowbelt in January would put the most vulnerable members of our society in some considerable degree of risk. Why should they be exposed to that risk if steps could be taken ahead of time to lessen the probability of power outages?

Yes, I know storms and such have knocked power out to various areas for several days at a time in the past. But those were always localized events which could count on the full support of unaffected areas until they were able to recover. And, the vulnerable in those situations often do suffer grave consequences. But..... those are acts of nature and not necessarily the consequences of the begnign negelect you seem to favor.

If you guys want to continue with this sophomoric nonsense of hyping a *no problem* position. Promise me you'll volunteer to suffer the same consequences as the most vulnerable of those whom you so blithly tell to sit in the dark and cold for several days in January.

I'm sure the same shallowness of character which the content of your posts display wouldn't make such a promise worth much.
