Disasters happen all the time and it is wise to be prepared. I have no problem with people stocking up on supplies in the event of any kind of disaster, natural or manmade.

In my opinion the Y2K hypesters love all the media hype, as it feeds their need to prepare for something.

I still feel most of Y2K is full of Hype and BS. For the products and items that are considered not Y2K compliant or failed Y2K compliance testing, what was the actual failure? Did it stop working? Displayed an error but kept working? WHAT???

A fax machine I read about failed Y2K compliance, the only problem was the date displayed on the header of the page was incorrect, hardly a serious problem, the fax machine still functioned. Is a company going to go out of business because of that problem?

How many times have you experience a disruption at work because of a paper jam, software bug, hard drive crash, power goes out, sewer back up, etc, etc, etc.....In the year 2000 these normal everyday problems will be blamed on Y2K, and you Y2K believers will feel vindicated.

In my opinion, most of the Y2K discussion is full of hype and BS. We will experience minor inconveniences, but this kid is not too concerned about it. Life goes on.
