I don't think the logic is flawed. I don't think you can take his statement out of context. He is talking about recessionary times. Semiconductor prices have always decreased but overall demand has grown at a faster rate as you pointed out. If conditions overall are deflationary then there is no way that demand can grow enough to overcome shrinking margins. This puts semiconductor-related companies at higher risk then ones with stable margins. In other words: bad sector during a recession.
