Not much on conspiracies (yet), but Ligand is covered in the current edition of OnlineInvestor (Nov/Dec) under
"Ligand: Promising Prescription"
This board is mentioned as is Yahoo. The Yahoo quote is:

"If even many of the pro-LGND posters say that good times for this company
are in the future," writes one Yahoo! participant, "why should I buy the stock
now? I'm investing in other stocks while I watch this one with great (but future)
interest. Yes, I know I might miss that great day that some press release vaults
the stock skyward, but is that really likely to happen anytime soon?"

One reason that Ligand gets so much attention on the boards (an average of 75
SI posts a day in Febraury): shareholder Henry Niman, a pittsburg
microbiologist who cofounded Ligand's onetine parent company. Other
companies dream of having a guy like Niman owning their stock. He regularly
posts 10 messages a day on the boards, answering people's questions about
Ligand, politely but firmly responding to the firm's critics, and running teh
Company's unofficial Web site.

"I follow biotechs in general, and I've been really impressed with their core
technology," Niman says. "their core technologies really cover the gamut."
