actually i pretty much miscalled the whole day but thats horse racing. migwaki never lifted a hoof, it was ugly. lion hearted actually probably was the best horse in that race but as usual shug didnt have him totally ready to fire, i havent seen a horse that green in the stretch in a while, he really took the big weaving, zig zag approach to stretch running, he was game but it was pretty clear he didnt quite understand what he was supposed to do. good one to watch the next couple races though. runup the colors circled the field but couldnt do any better than fourth, no match for sharp cat but i thought she could pull second at decent odds, a bit disappointed with that effort. and finally the really painful one for my self esteem, free house spit the bit in the stretch, had nothing to offer skippy or gentleman. guess he is beatable at a mile and an eighth, geeez....tough handicap day. thats why they run the races i suppose, my pride is a bit hurt but im happy skippy still reigns supreme. quarter in 22 and change, half in 45 and change, mile in 134.1 and just kept on going to finish in 147.4, absolutely incredible, i cant believe i underestimated him. sometimes you get so submerged in handicapping you lose sight of the obvious i guess, very humbling, back to the handicap drawing board with new lessons learned.
