Polls, polls, polls Polls for four statewide races in three Midwestern states find Republican candidates holding big leads. National Journal's Hotline reports that Iowa Sen. Charles E. Grassley is leading his Democrat challenger, former state Rep. David Osterberg, by more than 40 points. Six weeks before the November election, the Iowa Poll of 800 likely voters shows Mr. Grassley with 65 percent support, Mr. Osterberg with just 21 percent. Also in Iowa, a Mason Dixon poll of 817 likely voters shows Republican Jim Ross Lightfoot leading the governor's race by more than 20 percentage points. The poll showed Mr. Lightfoot with 54 percent and his rival, Democratic state Sen. Tom Vilsack, with just 32 percent. In Ohio, a Mason Dixon poll of likely voters shows Republican Gov. George Voinovich with 56 percent support, while Democratic challenger Mary Boyle has just 28 percent support. In Illinois, meanwhile, a Mason Dixon poll shows Democratic Sen.
