Stock Ideas: -
FRO -28 1/2 - Frontier Corp, telecommunications Co, regional, wireless and 5th or 6th largest long distance carrier. Strong bounce off of 24 area, target low 30's. gonna be taken over one of these days.
NOVL - 12 7/16, Novell, Looks stalled at 12 1/2, could retest 11 - 11 1/2 area, nice overall pattern of higher highs and higher lows, good FA with earnings past 2 qtrs, stock buyback in place.
NXLK - 24 - Nextlink, McCaw's CLEC, major base building in 21-24 area, nice trader in 21-22 entry.
GIC - 19 3/4 - General Instrument - Again, nice base builiding in 17-19 area, chart looks good, strong FA in that co has huger contracts going forward to supply cable boxes to tcoma and most of cable industry.
CBS - 28 5/8, announced IPO of 20% of Infinity Broadcasting, should be major boost to stock price, chart looking good, CBS is still morphing into a major entertainment power from its WX days. Last independent network, target for TWX, Diller/Bronfman?
MUEI - 14 5/16 - Micron Electrons, direct computer box mfger, makes great boxes, has strong new management to capitalize on its quality product. This stock is cheap relative to dell, cpq, gtw, etc. When this baby goes, it will be huger. (same statement could have been made anytime in past 2 years, however) new management is the encouraging factor this time.
GLW - 26 15/16 - Corning Inc - long downtrend, stock at 24 is ridiculously cheap for this quality co. chart says stock will retest 23-25 area, and if that holds, could be start of major base building for move back to 30's- 40s. Stock down on commotization of fiber optic and pricing pressures, plus, what else, Asia. Company is technological leader in new forms of LEAF fiber optics which has much greater capacity. LVLT and others that are building mega capacity lines have placed orders for LEAF. Company also betting the farm on photonics, with major investments in plant and personnel. co's big bets in the past have usually paid off majorly.
UTI 8 1/8, probably early, good trader back at 7 area.
CIEN - my vote for POS of the century
PEP/KO - think PEP here is major entry, how quick it will move ???, company has frito lays and pepsi, of course, just bot Tropicana for 3B, don't think KO will just bounce back this time. KO/GIS/TRV looking very similiar.
