I think that the dollar has been dropping at near the same rate as the yen .. because of that the yen seems to be in one of those "trading ranges."

As people go to cash over there the desirability of cash will cause the value of cash to rise .. since we are talking about Japan, this means the value of the yen rising localy.

Look at the other currencies listed on Globex and you get an idea of the value of the dollar. To the Japanese the value of the dollar has gone up .. but to the Europeans the dollar is less desirable.

Liquidity flow is toward Europe with the exception of the UK. I would guess this is because of exposure to these "bad loans" etc.

US internally I expect to see the stock market to continue to pull back with money from stocks flowing over to bonds.

BTW took my 401k from cash to bonds .. had to put the order in Sunday night to get the closing price Wednesday. Pain in the a$$ what I gotta do to catch a dip. Will probably hold there until after Phase II of the Japanese big bang (1/1/99).
