If I buy a house for $50,000 and tomorrow the house is worth $500,000 why should my property taxes go up? It's the same house in the same neighborhood with the same government services. I should not be bounced out of my home because some high tech firm moves in next door and pays high wages or gives out stock options. There is a free market for houses that are for sale. No one should consider someone's personal property free market while the property is not for sale. Do you suggest taxing all appreciated property before it is sold? Should the government tax your appreciated stock before you sell it?

I can't get too excited about the wealthy and their housing problems. Why should the 95 percent of the population that is not wealthy pay for the housing dilemma of the rich?

There was overwhelming support for proposition 13 from homeowners, both democratic and republican. The homeowners wanted to fight against exactly what you want to implement.

I do not believe that forcing a few homeowners out of their homes will have a significant affect on your housing shortage. You need to build more houses. If there is no more room to build new houses than you have a problem that changing the tax law will not cure.

If not taking someone's home away from them is social engineering then bring on the social engineers.

Good buy American Dream, I suppose next you want to take away my car and put me in a bus.

Fiercely Independent..Keep the government away from my home..find something else to tax.
