Mike,

I own some MNPI shares and like to contribute some thoughts on 56K MODEM technology.

From the information I have gethered, it seems 56K MODEM is only a hype. The reasons are based on following:

1) Only down stream 56K and up stream 33.6K; Rockwell and US Robotics both came with similar technology that CO to user 56Kbs and user to CO 33.6K. This also require telephone network not to convert digital data at any point and employ propriotary equipment.

2) No standar for 56K MODEM yet. This limits user accessing ability. You have to buy the one your ISP uses, otherwise nothing works.

3) With all the limitation in 1 & 2, I would think the price of the MODEM will not cheap. This does not look like economical justified until two years later.

So, I think anyone sold by 56K technology may need to think again. Just take look at USRX stock price lately.
