Very interesting article.

I still think it would be neat to see Compaq turn into a services company, with a contract with Dell. CPQ reinvents itself as an internet company, sells the Tandem line to Dell, then concentrates on service. Three years from now, after the 2001 PC consolidation price war. Pure speculation of course, but it would solve a major problem, the inefficiencies of CPQ's channel.
