VIDEOLOGIC: Videologic launches DVD player for PCs (Sigma inside)

M2 PRESSWIRE-21 September 1998-VIDEOLOGIC: Videologic launches DVD player for PCs (C)1994-98 M2
COMMUNICATIONS LTD

-- Second Generation DVD Playback Ready For OEMs and Upgrades

VideoLogic -- the international company that develops, designs and supplies market-leading 2D/3D graphics accelerator and
audio products for PCs, games consoles and arcade entertainment machines - has launched DVD Player, a low cost PCI
add-in card that elevates any standard PC with a DVD- ROM drive to a powerful DVD movie player.

Designed for the PC OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and upgrade markets, DVD Player is shipping now in the UK
and Europe.

DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) is the new standard that stores high-resolution movies on a 5" disc resembling a CD. DVD
movies are massively superior in picture and sound quality to VHS videotapes. DVD movie discs frequently include bonuses
such as: documentaries on the movie's production; multi- channel audio and surround sound; both widescreen and fullscreen
formats; a choice of camera angles for the same scene; foreign-language soundtracks and subtitles for the hard of hearing.
DVD Player has all the necessary hardware to fully exploit these features.

DVD has been a remarkably successful technology - superseding the fast rate of adoption enjoyed by CD on its launch - and
over 1400 films are available in English world-wide. Over 200 films will be released domestically in the UK by Christmas
1998 with many more available on import.

VideoLogic DVD Player uses the latest generation of integrated decoders which combines low-cost with exceptional digital
video quality to provide high- definition, full-screen, full frame rate DVD (MPEG2) video with Dolby Digital audio for a
complete home-cinema experience, even with a Pentium 133 class machine.

MPEG2 is the same standard that will be used for digital television transmissions.

A comprehensive second-generation solution, DVD Player works with the user's existing graphics card to provide superior
picture and sound quality, on a par with expensive stand-alone DVD players.

DVD Player supports all DVD audio formats including Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, MPEG-2 and stereo. It can be used
with a Dolby Digital decoder/amplifier to drive a complete 6-speaker (5.1 channel) surround system, with a Dolby Pro Logic
decoder/amplifier, or with a PC sound card such as SonicStorm from VideoLogic.

VideoLogic DVD Player can be connected to either a PC monitor or a television (NTSC/PAL with composite and
high-quality S-Video connectors) for a real home cinema experience. Movie titles are already available from Time-Warner,
MGM and other major studios and are available on the UK high-street.

DVD Player is compatible with all DVD-ROM drives and also supports other popular CD formats, providing
hardware-accelerated playback for Video CDs (VCD) and other MPEG1 or MPEG2 video files, including DVD-ROM.

DVD Player will be available from Electronics Boutique and Game in the UK from October 1998.

DVD Player is supplied with a five-year warranty and backed by world-wide customer support, including technical support
hotlines, an Internet web site and ftp services.

Technical Notes Minimum System Requirements: Pentium P133 PC or equivalent, with 16MB RAM, DVD-ROM drive and
Windows 95 or Windows 98. Audio-video processor: Sigma Designs EM8300 integrated DVD audio and video decoder.
Bus architecture: 32-bit PC1 2.1 local bus. Plug and Play compliant. External connectors: NTSC/Pal with composite and
S-Video connectors; S/P- DIF AC-3 audio out; 15-pin D-shell monitor connector; VGA analog loop-through.
