jlallen,check your history,he sure can't. Nixon tried that with Archibald Cox I believe,and the repercussions were far and wide. He does not have the power to fire him,he does not have the power to limit his investigation. Janet Reno has that power,and enevitably the Supreme Court. That is what got Nixon to resign he thought he was above the law,and could fire the independent counsel. Hiram
