Search Engines pay $60 million for MSN space Compaq Computer's (CPQ) AltaVista, CNET's (CNWK) Snap!, Infoseek (SEEK) and Lycos Inc. (LCOS) have paid a total of $60 million to be featured search engines on the Microsoft network for one year. A Microsoft spokeswoman said the four will be added to MSN at the end of the month Wired reported. Search options now on MSN, but which will be removed, include AOL, Excite (XCIT) and Yahoo! (YHOO), the report said. Danny Sullivan, editor of Search Engine Watch, pointed out "All (the) people who seem to be jumping at this are trying to become up-and-coming players."
