Pat: In mature Tele-com markets fixed Wireless networks have not proved economical. NT is shutting down 2 of its Production shops in the U.K. However, Fixed wireless has a great future in low tele-density areas.

Because of costs, the Mobile wireless market for data & voice currently has a small universe . Further, the Bells are not likely to go under any time soon.

The current strategy of the Bells seems to be focussed on the UADSL with both ATM and Frame relay for the backbone. I think the concept is viable and Consumers will be willing to trade their modems for a DSLAM with little or no increase of monthly charges.
