Actually, Clinton used two definitions of "sexual relations".

The one he mostly discussed was the exact wording in the Jones suit. That definition not only didn't include intercourse. It also didn't include oral sex if the one speaking (the deponent) was only on the receiving end. Remarkably enough, that IS a permissible, and even likely, reading of the words in that definition, after the Judge had chopped out the second and third parts of it.

The second was the one he suggested Monica Lewinsky might have been using. That's the one that must include sexual intercourse, he said. Apparently that is what some dictionaries say. Even if it sure isn't what our Hollywood and drugstore novels say, etc.

The real point is that Clinton made clear he was NOT trying to let the Jones lawyers know everything that was going on. He was trying to keep as much hidden as he possibly could -- and still avoid perjury.

So anyone who says that is not what people commonly mean is entirely missing the point. That is not the controlling legal standard. And Clinton was NOT trying to help the Jones lawyers. Who were principally trying to dragnet dirt and leak it to the press, to damage him politically.
