I am certainly not an expert, however in difficult times one does not
go out and buy diamonds as an investment (or in good times either). They don't go up in price (generally), they
are difficult to re-sell..(you'll get low wholesale..if that).
Other than adornment, diamonds have no other use. Yes I know diamonds
have industrial uses however that's where all the garbage and manufactured diamonds go.
And finally there is no shortage of diamonds. If De Beers released
all the diamonds they hold diamonds wouldn't be worth much more than
a CZ. The larger higher quality diamonds being the exception.
