Not necessarily true. Shorts have increased on the BB as Vancouver stock market has dried up causing those 3000 brokers to find other avenues of revenue. Normally, shorters dupe a company into selling them stock cheap to finance the company. They typically short enough stock to generate a full credit for the fund raising before the funds arrive at the company. The company receives partial funds and the shorter under the guise of an investment banker negotiates a % of the bid price which the shorter continues to knock out until he gets the price he wants. Never any money in the deal, never knows what the company does, never to be seen by the company again but dead bodies (investors() lie in ruin.

That's the typical Canadian Short. And by the way you know it.
