jwk -

I do not want to be sitting around safe and sound in Jan. of 2000 knowing that others are experiencing the consequences of a lack of prepartion by organizations, institutions, and businesses. Let's pay
attention to potential risks NOW, do what we reasonable can to minimize them, and hope that as many people as possible enjoy a healthy and prosperous new millenium.

Agreed...AND it's proving very difficult to get social organizations (Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, League of Women Voters, etc.) to take Y2K seriously.

From what I can see now, many organizations (businesses) are beavering away on their internal Y2K efforts. When I attempt to bring up the greater issue of their exterior supply chain & community responsibilities, it's clear I've grown a 4th head & it's time to end the conversation.

I'm with you..."every man for himself" is a receipe for certain disaster with Y2K.

There are definately some spots where folks are looking at Y2K as a local community issue, but this is definitely the minority.
