compete with what? NT 5 is vaporware and when it arrives will it be 64 bit? will it provide the kind of sophisticated RAS features that enterprises are demanding? will it cluster 8-64 processor machines like solaris can? Will it scale beyond what NT 4.0 does on more than 2-4 processors? no. no. no and no. Additionally it will have 30-40 million lines of new code that hackers cant wait to crack compared to the proven rock solid scalability and security in Solaris.

The avg. NT box ships with 1.2 CPU's - this should tell you what NT servers are used for - novell replacement and file and print services.
