I've just gotten finished watching a number of programs discussing today's video tape and I'll have to tell you; the tone has totally changed, the momentum has shifted, today was the climax to this whole thing. This was the high volume blowoff day for the entire 8 months of this. I watched the BBC and the right-wing Republican's were getting shot down on that show. On all the other shows I watched, the Republican's couldn't make the point, hold the floor. There was wide spread agreement across all these shows that the video tape shows that the case has not only not be made by Starr, but the start of a backlash can be manifested that all of this boils down to something petty and there is a mounting outrage over all the much ado about nothing this has turned out to be. The building up was brillant; all the leaks from the White House that they were worried about this video; that the President is shown losing control, etc. Then none of that turned out to be true and what did we end up with? 4 1/2 hours of the must skillfully subtle political commercial supporting the President that any Democrat could have wished for. Clips of Clinton making direct hit attacks against all of his critics and a summation that this is after all really about his political enemies trying to get him with no decency in their characters. It was effective as hell. Then add on top of that a standing ovation from all of the world leaders at the UN; you just couldn't have asked for anything more perfect than that. The Republican's looked like they were scambling for cover on all the nightly news reports tonight. A majority of American's didn't see the obstruction of justice, they didn't perjury; they saw a strong and capable man defending himself elequently against the most vicious invasion of privacy ever mounted in the history of the world through an abuse of the legal system USING A BOGUS LAWSUIT to accomplish the political goal of humiliating their political enemy. You were left thinking; what low-lifes these political enemies of his. The President was convincing. He had messed around and had foreplay briefly with that disturbed girl, but he ended it, it was short-lived. Who wouldn't try to evade questions about such a thing? This is all about what would a reasonable person do in this situation stuff; people could relate; they could bond to this argument. They connected with the President again. I absolutely loved the Clarence Thomas injection into that. All of this great stuff got played over and over and over again and the Republican's will be hear all of this for the next how many months because it's video and the media can play it over and over and over again. It was brilliant strategy to get this on video tape and let the idiotic Republican's fall into the trap of releasing it. They hate him so much, they can't even see when they have something that will help him. After today, here is where it is at: Clinton Old CW: Kinky retrograde crippled and unfit for office; an embarrassment to the office of the Presidency New CW: A respected world leader; a tough fighter who can take on any political enemies he encounters; a victim of bogus dirty politics who had to fudge because they forced him into an impossible position. Your going to see his poll number rise this week. What do the Republican's get to do; nothing except spend all their time on something that the majority of American's are now totally convinced is a waste of time and money. They are going to be hogs wallowing in their own waste because they are now trapped. They can't back away from the stink they have created because their zealots love it and want them to stay in it. The longer they do, week by week they will be losing political ground with all the undecided vote. I'm looking forward to November.
