Yes, but can investors take it to 10 and above based on what we've seen so far? I've been toying with buying this company for about 2 months and now feel like I missed the move. I'd feel better waiting for a pull back which seems likely unless we get some strong news.

I did find it positive that RDRT blew past 7.5 on Friday. I think it's safe to say that RDRT and IBM are not the only companies with GMR technology. Quantum has GMR in their internal head company MKQC. They don't plan to introduce it for a year.

Question could be whether RDRT has a twist on GMR that may actually be better?

In the end, all this great areal density spells very clearly that we are going to see a lot of single platter drives. That means unit head sales must drop. If RDRT can bring something special to the table, this could be survival rather than great profits.

By the way, IBM's 1 inch drive is based on GMR. It would seem obvious to Sony (whom I've also heard have GMR research) and others that they could make such a drive if it's a good product, if only they could get the heads and media. The market shows that the actually process of building a drive is not that complicated, although making money at it is another story. So, if we see another announcement following IBM of a small drive for camcorders, etc. it would be very exciting.

Regards,

Mark
