Earl,

How many past presidents have you disqualified because of the quality of their youth according to your lights. That's an elitist attitude....out of place in U.S.A.

Many former Presidents had less than ideal childhoods -- they overcame it and probably in many ways were better & stronger people because of their adversities. Growing up with "mom & dad" in an ivy-covered cottage with a white picket fence and marching off to church every Sunday is not the only environment that creates worthwhile adults. In fact, many human beings who grew up in that environment have become serial killers or murder their own parents.
