Hi,
There has not been enough seismic shot to "definitively" show closure, however, an experienced foothills geophysicist can infer closure from a combination of drill picks from existing wells and available seismic data. As good as the advances have been in seismic acquisition and processing, seismic in the disturbed belt remains "problematic". This does make it more difficult to pick the optimum location to test a structure, and increases risk accordingly. Another type of closure in this area are north-east trending faults which "compartmentalize" reservoirs. If the 7-25 well is a success, it will show that Hartel was not an isolated discovery on a relatively small structure and demonstrate that Devonian structures in the Turner Valley area are definately prospective for major gas and gas liquids discoveries. Hopefully,we will then soon see the Turner Valley area become a district size play for the majors. Shell and IOL et al have already demonstrated that the second slice of the Mississippian is prospective for oil and gas in this area. I look forward to the results of the 7-25 well.
