<<NEW YORK, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Coca-Cola Co shares fell Tuesday after Salomon Smith Barney cut earnings estimates, citing
currency pressures and lower volume expectations.

Salomon analyst Jennifer Solomon lowered the 1998 earnings per share estimate to $1.54 from $1.60 and the 1999 estimate to $1.68 from $1.85. She cited ''continued
margin and currency pressures as well as slightly lower volume expecatations.''

Solomon said she believes Coke will achieve its stated 7 to 8 percent worldwide volume growth objective, and expects 7 percent growth in the third quarter and 8 percent
growth in the fourth quarter.

The volume expectations are down from the 10 percent volume growth rate seen in the past four quarters, Solomon said.

Solomon also lowered the stock price target to $59 from $83, noting that Coke has ''significantly underperformed'' the market since Salomon lowered its rating to neutral
from buy in August 1997.>>
