gorcon,

Yes, several brokerages offer somewhat "instantaneous" executions. You have many options. These include CyberTrader, M.B. Trading Inc and other firms using Realtick III software, A.B. Watley, and there are many others. These use special software that is different from the browser-based trading platforms used by Datek and those type firms. Lately, it appears to me that M.B. Trading and CyberTrader are the most popular of these type online brokers, but there are indeed others that are popular as well.

There is a lot to learn, but you perform your own executions linked (somewhat) directly to the various exchanges, usually getting your fills reported back to you in a second or two. The good thing, though, is you can cancel any order and get confirmation of that on your screen virtually instantly, quite a comforting ability when you're daytrading and "long term" for you means something like 15 minutes. I don't want to appear to be hyping a particular brokerage, but you might like to look around or ask around and see what you find.

Good luck,

Bill
