*** Way off topic *** As far as democracy being threatened, I believe that democracy is threatened more if the President is not held to at least the same standards as others in the country. That is, perjury is illegal for everyone. Also, I don't see morality and leadership as being inseparable. I don't think that a person can be a "good" leader without morals. A leader, maybe, but not a good leader. Lastly, I don't credit Clinton with the relatively good economy ( Republicans have had the majority in the house and Senate for several years , not to mention Greenspan'a actions) of late and I can never condone his allowing the murder of unborn babies in "partial birth abortions". I've known he was a liar ever since the BS about putting the joint to his lips, but not inhaling. Give me a break. OK, sorry, but one more thing. Other officers in the armed forces are thrown out for adultery. He is the commander in chief, so in a democracy, why should he not be held to the same standards? Sorry, fellow LSIer's, but had to get this off my chest. I promise no more Clinton posts. |
