Buying AMD,

I think it is a compelling buy right now.

AMD has still not announced that they anticipate a close to break even quarter.

Also I really like the fact that they are announcing products as they ship with major tier one accounts (K6-350 with IBM and K6-mobile with Compaq).

Once they announce better than forecast Q3 and then the 400Mhz chips in a few weeks we should see a price on mid to high twenties.

At that point frankly I will probably reduce my position and let the rest ride for 3-6 months.

Intel meanwhile has announced increased sales for Q3 and the stock has done nothing. They also have no new products to announce in Q4 that i am aware of. Unless Q4 outlook for them is excellent it is difficult to see how they can really appreciate their stock price short term.

Regards,

Kash
