I believe MSFT will eventually see the light and become a good corporate citizen by joining the open standards world.

Read this and you'll find out why the only way MS will be open if the DOJ breaks them up. Otherwise there is no reason for MS to give up the monopoly. Where did MS say you have to go today? buy a new upgrade

Microsoft's fall?

As the computer industry looks toward the fall with new products waiting to be unveiled, one issue is on every executive's mind: The Microsoft case. If the Department of Justice prevails, the world
of computing will change immeasurably

The only other chance to put MS in its place which should be at the bottom of the pile with its not ready for prime time software is what Oracle's Larry Ellison said - the internet will take them out. Time will tell but it would be nice for the DOJ to break them up to speed up the process and get a good OS for the masses with quality applications.

Lets say the DOJ broke up MS OS from its applications. You probably would see a major computer supplier bundal Linux as a option for the masses. The MS application group would probably have Linux, Unix, etc offerings. Java would be full speed ahead. Boy that sure looks like the consumers will finally get a choice. At the end of the day the best system would rule and the average Joe would finally get some choices and a quality product. That was a nice dream but back to reality MICROSLOP RULES :-).
