Timing is, of course, an issue. W/ INTC's drip, OCP funds normally have to be received by Harris Trust on the 25th and said funds are invested on 1st. I don't have my plan description right in front of me, but I think that the purchase price may be the average price for a few days right before the 1st.
This does limit when you can purchase. But for the long-term investor (rather than a short-term investor or trader), whether you buy at 132 3/4 vs. 133 7/8 should not be a huge issue.
If you are trying to time the market, the DRIP plan is not for you. If you're in it for the long haul, I really don't see how you could go wrong.
