Dale:

<<Doesn't AMD have a history of announcing products without being able to produce them in large volumes.>>

That is true for the 0.35um K6 when it was first introduced. Since then when AMD migrated to the 0.25um process they didn't have any problem. AMD ramped the K6-2 quite well after its introduction in May. The announcement of K6-2-350 was less than a month and now Acer, IBM, CPQ, Fujitsu, UMAX, etc. are already have a system for sale. AMD has learned how to do things right this time.

<<When do you expect the K7 to be in retail stores?>>

Same time as Katmai.

<<How will the K7 compare to the PII 450mhz?>>

At same clock for clock K7 will beat PII in all benchmarks including floating point which Intel has always been strong. K7 will make K6-2 looks like Bambie and K6-2 is already in the same class as PII even though K6 L2 is handicap compared to PII.
