Larry, as usual I will defer to you and go study the chart you refer to. But how do you know in advance that SOX is going to lead MU up if you don't know in advance that SOX is going up? What I'm saying is that the touts designed to obfuscate the bad news of earnings and keep the simpleminded from realizing that they are invested in a company that isn't earning money are just that: touts that achieve a purpose of raising the stock from the doldrums. Now if the SOX goes up at the same time or just before the upsurge in MU, that's an interesting TA fact that must be important to an overall understanding of the stock movement.

But for those who aren't trend followers, a reasonably predictable pattern around financial reporting time is a useful fact to know before the report is released.
