Jack, The price difference is very significant. Also Intel does not have much in it's arsenal to launch against AMD in the next 6months. Only the PII 333 is slated to be released in the first half of 1999.

Intel has had an enormous advantage in the mobile market and has been able to dictate prices as it had been able to in the desktop market previously. This is certainly has a feel of deja vue(AMD's K6233). This AMD K6-300 mobile chip is quite likely to force a large drop in ASPs of notebook PCs.

Intel would have to drop its price by 50% by Christmas just get close. This is another good test for Intel to test its mettle.

In any case, it bodes well for future buyers of notebooks. More choices and lower prices can't be a bad thing.:))
