Hi Mohan, re:

I am, and he just said (and I won't quote because my machine can't buffer the whole clip :( ), "The Internet is the next logical step for the direct model; the only way we could do better is through mental telepathy."
If you've read my previous posts you'll see that I'm a strong advocate of nanotechnology (see foresight.org ). In one of my previous posts ( Message 5779784 ), I described how nanotechnology will lead us to "mental telepathy"!
I love synergy / synchronicity. I see the next 12 years as the technology companies outpacing everyone, rushing faster and faster until we achieve nanotechnology and then everyone can sit back and relax. You create food from the ground you stand on -- no need to go to the store, or even work, for that matter! Relationships and entertainment will be the only things that matter in the future. There was one really neat piece of synchronicity that happened to me today. My wife is from Brazil, and is learning English (her vocabulary is good, she just needs a little help with grammar). We were flipping through her books today, and came across a picture of a bank security truck with its doors open, money flying out, driving in a curving, wooded area. Behind it there were lots of cars with people reaching out their windows, grabbing dollar bills. This is exactly how I see Dell (as the truck, of course). Dell will most likely get us to the finish line. Not necessarily from inventing nanotech, but from having absolutely the most efficient business practices, and creating a lot of wealth from the stock market that will (if I have anything to say about it ;-) be spent on making sure this technology arrives. "Some solutions are better than others" holds completely true, and members of the Dell thread love to quote "Diversification is expensive insurance." (See Message 5564248 .) I am not quite that enthusiastic, as I had a nasty margin call in the past from not balancing the eggs-to-basket ratio -- but I am about 30% invested in Dell stock and options (calls, of course). It was such a strong image, it really took my breath away. The things Dell is doing now, with the Breakfast with Dell events, are amazing. Recently Michael Dell told corporate America how to make money using the web. Dell does $6 million a day from Internet sales! The 4,000 businesses that watched his presentation are the cars following behind (and benefiting from) the money-leaking truck. I think it's great that he's giving back to the community. He is someone I want to be associated with. I admire him.
Dell hit bottom today at the close. ;-)
