I have not yet got any feedback from Philip Brasher allowing me to publish his article here - But I can tell you some of the things I have read.

The national American Indian Housing Council states that 40% of Indian housing nationwide is considered substandard (6% elsewhere) - 20% is overcrowded - There is a need for 200,000 housing units nationwide for Indians.

Ogala Sioux have 1,000 people on waiting list for tribal housing. In many cases 3 or 4 families share a single house - Paul Iron Cloud, who runs the tribal housing authority says that he can fill 3,500 homes in two days, if he had them.

Today many live in mobile homes which is so drafty that it costs 200$ a month to heat it in the winter.

I sure hope ARET is busy following up on these matters.
