John,>>> What if they (AMD) continue to receive additional financing and keep this up for the next five years??? I'd like to know how that might affect Intel???? <<<

It is fairly clear that in the technology universe, the guys who come out with only a Me-Too-Product rarely succeed. AMD has had sufficient time and money spent on them to prove that they cannot and will not succeed. They will forever be a day late and a dollar short.

Nontheless, they serve a useful purpose - they keep Intel on their toes - making sure they stay in competitive trim - and best of all they keep DOJ at bay (otherwise it may be an open and shut case).

Intel's main worries are the world economy - (what is good for the world's economy is good for Intel), an egomaniacal analyst out to do them in, and friends like the Field Marshall at Compaq. With friends like Herr Pfeifer, you don't need enemies.

IMO, as far as the world economy is concerned, once the East Asian economies hit bottom and turns around, the next bull market will make the last bull market look puny.

Craig Barrett is here to make sure that Intel will take full advantage of it.

Remember buy low....

Mary
