Merlo, let me remind you that Dell earned more in the past two qtrs than CPQ, IBM, HWP and GTW combined in the midst of a price war started by CPQ because of its inability to manage its inventory and was forced to dump it. Dell is priced the way it is because its management team can perform in any environment. If they made that much money in the midst of a price war, can you imagine what they will make now that pricing pressure is easing.

As far as CPQ's valuation goes, it is priced cheap because investors are taking a wait and see attitude. It has been upgraded by several anal-ysts in the past couple of months and even that has failed to move the stock. Also, the fact that Earl 'the Pearl" Mason owns almost NO STOCK does not say much about CPQ's top finance guy's confidence in his own company. I wonder if he is a closet Dellhead <vbg>?

:o)
