The enmity between Carter and the President did not begin during the broadcast of the tapes. Further, Carter, while probably a good person, was the most politically inept president of the 20th century. The Republicans loved him as an ex-president and ran against him for 12 years like the Democrats ran against Hoover. Clinton on the other hand, is the most politically astute president of our time and the Right hates him for it. Has nothing to do with family values or role modeling.
If your party owns The Hill and you've also got the White House you've got power. This is as close as the Right has been and they are frenzied with anticipation. Won't go. All the stated misdeeds revolve around lying about sex and as the saying goes, we have a representative government. The public will not stand for an attempted coup dressed up as principle.
