One piece I read recently pointed out that when MSFT copies something, it ususally takes them three tries to get it right, but they do eventually get it right (think early versions of Windows).

MSFT has gone through a few missteps while others have been discovering what actually does and doesn't make money on the internet, but when it is clear there is money to be made and how, MSFT will be there to say "Thank you very much, we'll take over now."

I think that moment is about here - MSFT is about to unveil the third incarnation of their internet presence, and they are removing the connections to YHOO and AOL from there services.
