Are you referring to press releases from specific retailers (like CompUSA) or anecdotal evidence of sales reports from individual stores (like Soup's)? I'll take statistics over anecdotes any day.

Also, have you all noticed how amazingly similar these numbers from various sources are?

The ComputerWare press release from a week ago stated that their in-store sales of G3's (not iMacs) increased more than 20% in the wake of the iMac intro.

Meanwhile, the data from ZDnet released less than a week ago had a similar 20% figure.

ZDnet also mentioned a 109% increase in overall sales from July to August. PC Data (through C/NET) states that overall sales increased at least 125% (6 to 13.5% market share increase).

The specifics may still be up in the air, but I believe that because these separate figures are confirming each other, that the ballpark in which we reside is no longer up to debate.
