Thanks very much for the article. I found it interesting in that it discusses the same problems, i.e. Cable needs the infrastructure, telcos need to get going plus the last few feet to the house. This is the primary reason that I think PCs will evolve further and it affects the bus data transfers, multiple processors, and a whole host of features which will change the basic PC as we know it today. I can't imagine ever sitting in front of the tv to type a message to you or to use the tv to plot charts and graphs so, in my mind, the tv convergence is strictly consumer oriented and for entertainment purposes only. With many more of us working on-line, bandwidth will become more and more an important aspect.
I see these changes as not too far out, soon. We've recently inquired about ADSL line and found that we are in an area that can have this line. (although I'm not sure why we asked since I already connect via an ISDN line that I'm very happy with, unless it is cheaper)
On the consumer end - entertainment spectrum - think about piping in Movies and multiplayer highly sophisticated, multi location interactive games - like Chess with someone in another state for instance.
Just a few ideas and I'm far behind in the seer category! <VBG>
