Ken Starr's social vision and values are totally irrelevant. This has not prevented administration anti-Christian bigots from mocking his faith. His actions are under intense scrutiny by the 3 judge panel, the Attorney General, and a variety of other watch dogs. None of these watch dogs has accused him acting outside the bounds of independent counsel law. That being true, the independent counsel Statute must be the subject of our debate.

Let me state my position on it (as I have several times in the past 7 months). I am against it. It should be repealed.

That is a completely separate issue, and must not be confused with the results of his work - i.e. that he uncovered persuasive evidence that the President of the US has committed impeachable acts that must not be allowed to go unpunished.

I am afraid my entertaining sophistry has interfered with the points I was trying to make. Sorry. You say "Your underlying reasoning--that democratic means cannot produce totalitarian ends--simply does not comply with historical facts." I believe fervently that democratic means can lead to totalitarian ends. I believe, further, that that is the end that the Clinton/Gore agenda is leading us toward.
