Don't you feel Dell's direct model and fanatical focus on continuance improvement will help them gain share?
Today we have IBM #1, CPQ #2, HP #3 and Dell #4 (if we exclude the Japanese mainframe players). I think Dell will clean house on the smaller players, and will take some from IBM and HP, so yes, they will gain some share. CPQ will take a lot from IBM and HP and may lose a little to Dell. But in 3-4 years I see IBM and CPQ tied for #1, HP #2, Dell #3, which is almost no change. All 4 companies will be bigger and 'other' will be a lot smaller.
